In an increasingly digital world I love the way you can hide a beautiful three dimensional illustrations in the closed pages of a book, card or anything that can fold up. Just card and a bit of glue, simple elements making something that comes alive.

What I find so rewarding about pops-ups is the duel elements of the paper engineering combined with the illustration. I aways strive to compliment both sides of whatever the final style or function of the final pop up may be.

I've loved pop-up books since I was very little. During my time as an art student I re-ignited my love trawling local charity shops finding old and usually very battered pop-up books. I started mending these and slowly learned how to make them. I've been developing my work ever since.

How I work:

After some initial ideas worked through drawings. My pieces are developed through a series of sketch models until the design and paper engineering work, some designs this happens quickly others take many versions to get absolutely right.

After that the design can be illustrated, then it’s a matter of cutting out  the individual pieces and assembling the final pop up.
